Sir Willoughby Aston 5th Bart.

???? - 24th Aug 1772

Biography

Sir Willoughby Aston, 5th Bart., son of Richard Aston of Wadley, Berkshire and his wife Elizabeth Warren. In 1770, Aston's son-in-law Francis Grant-Gordon had granted a bond of £6000 to Sir Willoughby Aston and Thomas Pye, Vice Admiral, to secure an annuity of £200 p.a. to Francis's wife Mary Grant-Gordon. On Francis Grant-Gordon's death in 1803, Sir Willoughby's son (also called Sir Willoughby Aston but in this case, the 6th Bart.) went to court in Antigua to gain a judgement on the bond (to secure it against the plantation?). The enslaved persons went to Mary Grant Gordon in lieu of the annuity.
