Mary Ann Prince

???? - 1847

Claimant or beneficiary

Biography

Widow of Bath, counterclaimed as annuitant of £250 for the compensation for the Norwich estate in Portland Jamaica in a case in which the compensation was paid into the colonial court. Mary Ann Prince's counterclaim was replicated (by George Atkinson, the original claimant as receiver) on the basis that her annuity was charged on all property, not just slaves, and so she should have only a proportion of the compensation.

  1. Will of Mary Ann Prince, widow of Bath, proved 17/05/1847. Her will identifies her son as George Kinghorn Prince, and specifies and indenture of 1797 as governing her claim, but her path to the annuity has not yet been traced.
