John Poyer

The attorney of John Poyer deceased claimed the compensation for the Henly estate in Barbados, for which the compensation was paid to his nephew John Poyer Griffith (q.v.) as executor.

1. John Poyer (d. 1834) was a supporter of poor whites and the author of The History of Barbados (1808).

2. John Poyer Griffith junior, son of J.P. Griffith of Russell pl[ace] esq., in compliance with the will of his great-uncle John Poyer esq., to take the name of Poyer only 27/05/1834. The application was made by John Poyer Griffith the elder on behalf of his only son, John Poyer Griffith junior, a minor aged 20.  

3. Will of John Poyer otherwise Poyyer of Russell Place Fitzroy Square proved 28/02/1834. He left his leasehold house in Russell Place to his great nephew John Poyer Griffith the younger on the proviso that the latter's father also John Poyer Griffith could occupy it until his son reached 31. He left annuities of £100 p.a. to his sister Jane Poyer of Barbados; £50 p.a.to Mary Ann Way; £100 p.a. to his nephew John Poyer Griffith the elder; and £100 p.a. to his nephew Howard Griffith of Barbados.
