Martin Polley
is a sports historian, public speaker, broadcaster, Olympic expert, and
Senior Lecturer in Sport at the University
of Southampton; author of
four books, including The
British Olympics. He has been involved in a number of film,
television, and radio projects. His lecture forms part of a season of cultural
activities in celebration of the return of the Olympics to London;
