Distance in Russia

The distance between the Russian western borders and the shores of the Bering Sea washing it to the east is more than 7,000 miles. When Muscovites eat their breakfast, their fellow countrymen on the Chukotka Peninsula go to bed. It occupies more than one-sixth of the world’s total land area and straddles two-thirds of the globe (in Europe and Asia).

You can find a tremendous diversity of wildlife in Russia. Among 796 species of birds we can not but mention the Red-breasted Goose, Siberian White Crane, rarely seen Ibisbill, gorgeous Paradise Flycatchers. Among the 321 species of mammals are the amazing Russian Desman, an aquatic relative of the moles with a trumpet-like snout, the magnificent Siberian Tiger and Snow Leopard. There is a unique variety of natural landscapes in Russia. You can view some of them in our picture gallery >>
