The course will explore the relevance of experimental archaeology for the interpretation of Prehistoric and early historic remains and artefacts. The methodology of archaeological experiments will be explored, followed by selected case studies drawn from the subjects of: taphonomy, lithic technology (flint and groundstone), textiles, pottery and other vessels, houses and other structures, transport, food preparation and storage, and information storage: writing, painting, symbolic expression.
