Sarah Lawson
About Sarah

Sarah leads UCL’s Information Security Group (ISG) and supports the delivery of the digital agenda for UCL.

ISG’s primary function is to support UCL in predicting, preventing, detecting and responding to information security attacks.

Working to maintain digital trust throughout UCL, ISG uses threat modelling and risk assessment to prioritise attack and information breach prevention, and works in three key capability areas: governance, risk and compliance, security operations, and security architecture. During her tenure as Chief Information Security Officer and Deputy Chief Information Officer, Sarah has also built a strong link between academic and research functions in information security, overseeing a new program of research and operations collaboration.

She also represents Digital in the Research and Innovation Operations (RIO) Portfolio, and provides support for the Continuous Improvement team.

Sarah joined UCL in August 2021, bringing a wealth of experience from her career in technology and security, including time spent working at the University of Oxford and in global industry.

Sarah studied Law and Business at Plymouth, and has recently completed an MBA at UCL.

When not working, Sarah can be found in Oxfordshire with her two dogs, as well as enjoying the company of her husband and five grown-up daughters and stepdaughters.
