President: Dhrupad Karwa

Hello! My name is Dhru and I am second year undergraduate reading Economics. I’ve been playing Table Tennis since the age of 12. At school, I represented the Yorkshire County squads and now, at UCL, I play for the BUCS and Central London League Men’s 1st teams. My favourite international Table Tennis player is the UCL hero Matthew Tsang*. His “impregnable confidence and enthusiasm” both on and off the Table is simply inspiring. Tsang is the epitome of modern Ping Pong. To summarise, in the eloquent words of the paradigm shifter himself, his “skills are too good”. Also on campus, I’m the Director of Conference for the UCLU Economics & Finance Society. Poetry is another one of my hobbies and I am currently writing a novel. My other interests include entrepreneurship and meditation. Last year, as a Fresher, being involved with the UCLU TTC was awesome. The Club is a great place to both develop skills and make fantastic friends. From after training escapades in China Town to Union Karaoke nights, we sport a top range of social events! So regardless of whether you’re a social or competitive player (or both) we warmly welcome you to come down to Somerstown and have a knock! Cheers!

Vice President: Mo

I am currently in my third year of Chemical Engineering at UCL and Vice President for this year. Contrary to my science and engineering ‘geeky’ background I am very passionate about sport, at the top of the list being of course table tennis! The past two years for me at UCLU TTC were amazing not only will did I have the chance to play with players of all levels; a big part is also the social aspect of our society where you have the chance to meet people from various degrees and also attend our events dinners, karaoke, pubs etc. I therefore urge you to join us, pick up a bat and have a knock around, you definitely won’t regret it. I hope this year we as a committee can relentlessly strive for excellence and work towards another incredible year. I am multi-lingual and very interested in learning new languages. I am able to speak fluent English and Arabic and conversational French, German and Japanese (I am currently attending evening courses in Japanese at UCL language centre). I am a keen self-taught classical (Spanish), acoustic and electric guitarist and have been playing for over 4 years. Other sports I love include: Football, Basketball, Badminton and Tennis. Big fan of online gaming. Counterstrike, Left4dead, Call of Duty and many many more. My current favourite table tennis player would have to be a tie between Wang Hao and Ma Lin. All time favourite is of course the legend that is Jan-Ove Waldner!

Club Secretary: Tom Law

I am a third year Chemical Engineer. As club secretary I am sort of the go-to guy for pretty much anything and everything so don't be afraid to talk to me about any improvements you would like to see in the club and I'll see what we can do. I first joined the club as a complete novice and have grown to love this club and am now a regular attendee of our weekly sessions, as well as organising a few extra sessions during the holidays and being part of this committee. I initially joined as one of my close friends told me to go with him and it turned out to be a great decision. Unlike many other sports societies, the UCLU Table Tennis Club is run a lot more like a society than a club and you do get to know everybody both on and off the table. As well as being a novice at table tennis I also play badminton and tennis socially and have played football and hockey for teams. Outside of sport, I adhere to the standard "geek" stereotype. I enjoy my videogames, predominantly Call of Duty and Left4Dead, and I also enjoy reading manga and watching anime. I hope to see you in the upcoming year. Do come say hi to me when you see me not playing as I do want to meet all of you (I even speak Cantonese if you prefer!)

Hello, I'm Leo Yorke and I am a 2nd year Natural Science student and mediocre table tennis player. I love the table tennis club because of the friendships it has brought to me, and its friendly and relaxing atmosphere to everyone, coupled with top class players and coaching, It is a great place to come and make friends, and have a good time whilst trying out a fresh sport. My favorite table tennis player of all time is Jan-Ove Waldner, because of his unparalleled control over the ball, and his brilliant shots.
