Sabina is a Netball Club, which was originally set up as a sub-group from Sabina Cricket Club. Sabina Cricket Club was founded over 40 years ago and the netball section has been operating for over 20 years, originally formed from the wives and girlfriends of the cricketers.

Since then the netball side has been established and grown with a view not only to be a social club, but also to develop younger players and encourage new players of all ages and abilities. The Club is Bronze CAP and is CLUB MARK, presently working for Silver CAP.

The club is managed by me, as a Level 2 Coach and B Award Umpire. Achieved Active Sports Coach of the Year for 2004/5 and the club has also receive an Awards for All to deliver its youth programme from the Lottery. We now have two Level 2 coaches, and 4 C Award umpires and all players are encourage to develop their skills not only as a players but coaching and umpiring.

In order to ensure future development, it is fundamental that potential players attend training sessions, not only to discuss the game, but also for the social aspect of the sport and gain knowledge of other team members and technical awareness. The club has a policy once register as a member that once training sessions has been arranged, members will contribute (whether they attend or not) as levels are to help cover hire cost of facility

The club presently caters for players from 10 plus from the boroughs of Lewisham, Bromley, Greenwich and Southwark, and North West Kent borders. The junior section was formed in September 2004, and since then participated in the Junior Winter league 2004/5, and the summer of 2005, where they finished a creditable 3rd from 9 teams and became runners-up in winter legue (2006/7) The junior section continued to enter the local league competition in both the winter and summer league and also participates regularly in tournaments. The juniors were successful in winning their age category in a Junior Tournament in March 2006 and 2007 in Torquay.

Its intention is to be able to build on membership in all categories, to ensure that there is a structure within the club to underpin the adults by continual evaluation of junior players' development. We would like to have a structure of at least 3 junior teams in their age category, for example Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 to be able to participate at local, County and eventually Regional Leagues, as well as expanding on the adult membership. The adults have been successful in finishing unbeaten in their Saturday league and have gain promotion. It now entertains two adult teams in the NWKL continue to actively recruit. The ladies has also won respectively tournaments at both the NWKL beginning and end of season and also recently in Canterbury. They wish to expand and improve their ability to enter higher level of competition in the future.

Training is EVERY Wednesday evenings: 6.00 – 8.00 for juniors and 8.00 to 10.00 for adult and more mature youth players – it is held at Prendergast School; the border of Ladywell/ Catford/Lewisham area.

The club continues to recruit players of all ages and ability for both sections and thank all for interest in the club.

After initial attendance, a welcome pack will be issue with appropriate joining instructions. Any queries to be referred to me.
