Sobre a Validação de Modelos Microscópicos de Simulação de Tráfego

by Paulo Silva and Nick Tyler

Abstract

This paper discusses the adequacy of conventional statistical methods employed in the validation of microscopic traffic simulation models. After identifying the incompatibility between the conditions to apply these methods and the nature of the traffic variables used in the validation processes, the paper introduces the adaptation of a parametric test previously used, with a few limitations, in the study of a simulation model for uninterrupted traffic in freeways. The application of the test to validate a model developed to simulate the vehicular interactions in the surroundings of bus stops is then briefly described and its results are discussed. The validation procedure proves useful and the simulation model is deemed valid. The exercise also reveals aspects of the procedure that need further improvement.
