Dr Jane Blake graduated from London Guildhall University with a first class honours degree in Chemistry. She subsequently went onto complete a D.Phil in Physical Chemistry at Oxford University under the supervision of Prof. Richard Compton.

Jane went on to postdoc at University College London for Prof. David Williams before taking up a post working at Capteur Sensors and Analysers. Jane currently works for Slicon Labs Ireland as part oft he team in Dr Binions labs.

Ayo Afonja

Ayo Afonja

Ayo Afonja is currently a technical officer in the Binions group. Her main responsibilities are building new, and maintaining existing gas sensing equipment.

Ayo is currently writing up her Ph.D. thesis entitled "Zeolite Modification: Towards Discriminating Gas Sensors" which has been conducted at UCL under the supervision of Prof. Ivan Parkin and Dr. Dewi Lewis.

Michael Warwick

Mr Michael Warwick

Michael Warwick is a Ph.D. student in the Binions group and is jointly supervised by Dr. Ian Ridley who is based in the Bartlett School of Urban Planning. Michael's Ph.D. is entitled "New Chemical Vapour Deposition Methods for Energy Efficient Glazing". He is investigating the affect of applied electric fields in chemical vapour deposition reactions on a variety of technologically important metal oxides.

Michael completed his first degree at University College London, his fourth year research project was supervised by Dr. Russell Binions and was entitled "Hybrid Chemical Vapour Deposition of Multifunctional Thin Films".

In his spare time Michael enjoys hats and building towers out of cardboard.

Anu Naik

Miss Anu Naik

Anu Naik graduated with a first class degree in Chemistry from UCL in 2009, she completed a summer studentship in the Binions Group. Her research is based around new sensors for environmental monitoring. Anu started working towards an Eng.D. qualification sponsored by Chip Sensors and supported through the Materials Modeling and Molecular Science doctoral training centre at UCL and supervised by Dr Binions and Prof. Parkin in October 2010.

Emma Newton

Miss Emma Newton

Emma Newton gained a first class honours degree in forensic science from the University of Kent. During her undergraduate degree Emma spent a year in industry working for the Home Office on a project entitled "Development of wet origin of footwear impressions from volume crime scenes". Emma is supervised by Dr Russell Binions and Professor Ivan Parkin and is working towards a PhD sponsored by the UCL SECReT programme. Her research is based around a mobile electronic nose for teh detection of contranband substances.
