Math 375: Introduction to Representation Theory
Final Presentations

Final presentations will take place in class from Dec. 8 to Dec. 12. Each presentation will take a 15 minute time slot, of which 10-12 minutes should be spent on a prepared presentation, and 3 minutes should be reserved for questions.

Your presentation may be a board talk, or use slides and a projector. If you do plan to use slides, please email them to me or transfer them to the classroom computer at least 5 minutes before the start of class.

If you think it would be helpful to refer to a handout in your presentation (for instance, if you would like your audience to have definitions or examples in front of them that you will frequently refer to), you are welcome to prepare one. (You are not required to have a handout; this is entirely up to you.) If you would like for me to print the handout for you, you must email it to me by 1pm on the day of your presentation. You are also welcome to print them yourselves. Please make sure you make 10 copies of each.

The presentations will be graded on content, clarity and organization. You should clearly state the topic of presentation, and include relevant definitions, theorems and examples. Your talk should follow a logical progression and be understandable for the audience members. Your slides and/or board-work should be easy to read and you should speak at a volume and pace that is easy to follow. Please plan carefully and practice to make sure you are able to cover all important points in the allotted time frame.

Each student besides the presenter will be given a short survey to fill for each presentation. To this end, you are expected to make your own presentation accessible to your classmates, and you are expected to pay close attention to everyone else's presentation.

Presentations are scheduled as follows:
