Orientation and induction

You said

  • There was too much for new students to take in over welcome week. You wanted an induction that was more spread out to give you more time settle in and figure things out. 

We did 

  • We launched the new Make the Most of UCL campaign over the first six weeks of term. The campaign helps new and returning students discover the resources, support and opportunities that are available at UCL. 

You said

  • It could be hard to find out everything happening over the start of term. 

We did

  • We launched the Welcome to UCL app, which lets you see induction events from academic departments, the Students' Union and other areas of UCL. The app lets you add these events to a personalised calendar, and it was downloaded over 15,000 times. 

You said

  • Domestic students sometimes miss out on information about London life that might be useful for them too, as well as international students.   

We did

  • The Student Support and Wellbeing team created the New Students' Guide, full of practical arrival information for all new students, whether home or international. 

You said

  • Registering with the police as an international student is confusing.
