Writing Lab

Our Core Workshops take place in towards the beginning of Terms 1 and 2.

We offer a series of workshops, which have been devised in response to the issues students most frequently discuss in one-to-one tutorials. Examples include:

  • Writing introductions and conclusions
  • Reading and Note-Making
  • Literature Reviews
  • Editing, Copy-editing and Proof-reading
  • Word choices and style
  • Signposting: Guiding your Reader
  • Planning and Structuring essays
  • Demystifying Citations and References
  • Research for Academic Writing
  • Critical Thinking: Analysing Secondary Sources

What happens at a Writing Lab workshop?

A Writing Lab workshop is not a lecture. While your tutor will teach you new techniques, the workshop provides a space for you to implement some of these ideas, and to discuss your writing practices with other students from different disciplines and at other levels of study.

How do I book my place?

You will need to enrol on the Writing Lab moodle page and see all the details there.
