Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering, rotation scheme
Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering Apprenticeship – Level 3
Start/End Date: Sept 2018 – July 2022
Why did you choose an apprenticeship?
I chose this apprenticeship because engineering is my passion and main interest so this apprenticeship felt like a natural progression to continue my journey to become an engineer.
Why did you choose UCL?
I chose UCL not just because it is a world-class educational institute but also because of the opportunities it provides for developing the skills that will allow me to progress into the current engineering world.
What do you hope to gain from the apprenticeship?
I hope to gain a vast and deep technical understanding of engineering but also to apply these skill to a variety of difficult and demanding situations.
What’s your experience of apprenticeship been like so far?
My experience of the apprenticeship so far has been incredible because of the various projects that I have worked on and also the people that I have been able to learn from is amazing as they have shown us different ways of approaching a job and ways of maximising the use of the machines and materials at our disposal.
What is the most important thing you have learnt from your apprenticeship to date?
The most important thing that I have learnt during this apprenticeship is to always have an open mind about what you are learning.
Any advice/tips for prospective apprentices?
One piece of advice that I would give to a new apprentice at UCL is to always push yourself at every opportunity and always push yourself to learn as much as possible. In the perspective of a career, this apprenticeship is short, and these four years are the best opportunity to learn as much as possible.
