Annual Conference 2022

Welcome to the EGA IfWH '17th' Annual Conference & UCLH WH Division Audit Day 2022 -  Report page.

Friends House, Euston Road
The EGA Institute for Women’s Health 17th’ Annual Conference & UCLH Women's Health Division Audit Day was a showcase of high-quality research undertaken by UCL Institute for Women's Health that took take place on 09 December 2022  at Friends House, 173-177 Euston Road, London NW1 2BJ.  We had over 150 delegates attending, 100 in person and a further 60+ online via Zoom.

This year the format included oral presentations from IfWH/UCLH Researchers presenting their work, and undergoing a Q&A session. Presentations were judged by our panel, and prizes awarded for the overall best performances.

In addition to this, as like every year, we had our poster presentations and prizes, with some posters presented in person and some via our e-poster page, as well as highlights from our Institute staff of the high profile research that has been undertaken.

At this meeting we celebrated how staff are delivering breakthroughs across women’s health. In neonatology we will learnt about innovations in identifying neonatal hypoxia using light technology, baby spectacles to improve visual outcomes, melatonin for neuroprotection and new surfactants to protect the lungs during ventilation.  In maternal fetal medicine we highlighted placental function and oxygenation, the effect of steroids and outcomes after fetal growth restriction. Reproductive Health topics were wide-ranging and included the effect of chemotherapy on male infertility, the importance of abortion care and the menopause, with a lively debate on whether it is a hormone-deficiency disorder. In Women’s Cancer we learnt about cervical precancer, cervical cancer vaccination, endometrial cancer genetic testing, and molecular signals in breast cancer.

Our Keynote speaker Professor Dame Lesley Regan, Professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Imperial College London closed our conference detailing the Women’s Health Strategy in England and her role as the Government Women’s Health Ambassador.

Recordings and pictures of the event can be found below.
