Project description
World statistics over the past thirty years have confirmed a substantial change in the demographic figures of motherhood. Most women now have the tendency to delay child bearing until an advanced reproductive age. However, women trying to children after the age of 30-35 may be affected by age related infertility due to the effects of a decrease in the number and quality of eggs. This delay ha caused women to have smaller families or become involuntarily childless. This also complicates the effective policy approaches to address population and development implications of those diverse child bearing patterns in countries experiencing high levels or low levels. Globally we need a proactive action plan for women and men to be provided with detailed information of the consequences of delayed child bearing so that informed choices can be made as early as possible. The aim of this study is to explore the availability of fertility education globally, develop tools to deliver this information to the UK adolescents, parents and teachers and to test the impact of these tools.
