A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position exists in the Lab of Professor David Selwood at UCL’s Bloomsbury campus (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/wolfson-institute-biomedical-research/drug-discovery). The position, funded by a BHF Award to Professors Adrian Hobbs (QMUL), and David Selwood are part of a collaborative programme of research to develop novel agents to treat heart disease. We will take a chemical biology approach to study e a specific anti-atherogenic/anti-thrombotic signalling pathway in the cardiovascular system, by utilizing molecular modelling, X-ray crystallography, and the synthesis of, often complex, organic molecules as pharmacological probes and novel inhibitors. We will use these molecules to elucidate the molecular details of the disease. The approach will be collaborative, working closely with cardiologists, and protein crystallographers, to solve the details of the molecular interactions involved.
