Laboratory support

  • The wash-up is located in room B.2.03. We will process laboratory glassware and waste left at the collection points in your wings.
  • Decontaminate glassware with solid/liquid waste removed that is placed in the white container provided will be washed, heat-sterilised (if required) and returned to your lab.
  • We will also collect any broken contaminated glass placed in the blue box provided and decontaminate and dispose of. Any uncontaminated broken glass is placed in the red box and will be disposed of.
  • Lab disposable clinical waste must be double bagged in high temperature Sterilin bags and tied with a colour coded cable tie provided for your wing and then placed in the plastic trolley in you lab for collection.
  • Full sharps containers can also be placed in these trolleys for collection as well.
  • We will keep stocks of new glassware in the wash-up B.2.03 for labs to restock when needed.

Confidential Waste

Confidential waste bags can be collected from deliveries in B.2.03. 
When bags are full please return to deliveries who will organise collection from estates 

Deliveries

Is in room B.2.01A and is open from 8.30-4pm weekdays. All deliveries should arrive through us and not via the front entrance. These are then sorted using the information on the outside label of the delivery and sorted per wing and delivered to your drop off point in your wing. Each item is marked with the wing. 

Dry ice / Liquid nitrogen

We have a standing order set up with weekly deliveries of these for the building to use. Liquid nitrogen is kept in the delivery yard and the dry ice is in the large white container on the slope in the delivery yard. If you have any problems with the liquid nitrogen vessels please seek assistance from a member of staff in the delivery room. N.B. filling must be completed by 3.45pm.

Autoclave room

This is located in room B.2.02 and there will be items kept here for general use. These will be autoclave bags, sharps bins, cable ties. If you need to sterilise any equipment or large quantities of liquid then please contact Juan Castelo.

Laundry/lab coats

We have stocks of lab coats and safety specs for staff who are new or do not own such items. There is a laundry service set up for washing lab coats on a weekly basis. In each of your wings there is a tall grey cupboard where you hang your lab coat. Please place any used coats in the bottom of this cupboard for washing by Thursday evening. Your clean coat will be left on the shelf just below where you hang you coats up. Please make sure your name and wing number are clearly written in the collar and ALL items are removed from pockets.

Gas cylinder orders

We maintain the building gas supplies (e.g. CO2, N2, He) but any cylinders or gas related items for your lab has to be ordered by you on the ordering system. We can give advice if needed. 

Courier service collection point

We have a collection point in deliveries B.2.01A for the items to be collected by the courier. You must first arrange this with our purchasing office .Please get your cold item containers/packaging from us in deliveries.

Moves assistance

We can assist with moves into or around the building or with the relocation of equipment. Please provide us with plenty of advance warning if this is required. Contact Juan Castelo or Stephen Williams.

Car Parking

  • There are two spaces in the delivery yard and these can be booked through the delivery room on ext.46699.
  • Due to limited space, parked vehicles may need to be moved at short notice and you should inform all users of this requirement.
  • You must leave the drivers contact mobile number with deliveries.
  • Please be available to collect your visitor from deliveries on arrival.
  • Please ask a member of the team if you are not sure about any of the above.

Must be booked in advance – to allow access into the yard. Deliveries team will unlock the bollard to allow booked vehicles in.
