UCL’s new Access and Participation Plan receives approval from the Office for Students
3 October 2024
Under the oversight of the Student Access and Success Committee, a team led by the UCL Access and Widening Participation Office and the UCL Student Success Office has produced UCL’s Access and Participation Plan for 2025/26–2028/29.
The Office for Students (OfS) condition of registration A1 requires every university to have an approved Access and Participation Plan (APP) that sets out its approach to address access and success gaps for the UK undergraduate cohort.
UCL’s Plan, developed in accordance with OfS guidance and in consultation with UCL departments and faculties, Students’ Union UCL and the student body, sets out the changes the university will make to support underrepresented students both to apply to UCL and to achieve as well as all other students in their degree.
The team analysed data to identify the greatest risks to equality of opportunity at different stages of the UCL student lifecycle. An evidence-led, research-based approach supported the development of a range of intervention strategies across the student lifecycle.
UCL’s new APP includes our ambitious plans for evaluation of our work and publication of our findings to contribute to sector knowledge.
