UCL recently hosted a series of "Bring Your Family to University" days on its Bloomsbury campus, offering young people in Years 5 to 11 and their parents/carers an immersive look at university life. The events were packed with informative and engaging activities designed to help students navigate their academic journey and prepare for the future.

Families took part in student-led activities, including a hands-on architecture session run by the Bartlett School of Architecture ambassadors, to Q&As with current UCL students and alumni. While students explored academic pathways, parents had the chance to learn about the support and financial assistance available for prospective students and how to manage this in their role as a guardian.

Whitney Robinson, UCL Senior Widening Participation Officer, highlighted the positive response to the events:

The team and I are thrilled with the success of these days. It was heartwarming to see families so eager to learn more about university life. We’re excited to continue supporting students on their educational journeys.”

Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive. One student remarked,

I found it useful to learn about how to manage my GCSEs and A Levels, and hearing about what it’s like at university was really helpful.”

Parents were equally impressed, with one commenting,

It was inspiring to meet the ambassadors and learn about their journey from secondary school to university. The whole day was fantastic!”

UCL looks forward to running these events again next year. Early registration is now available – find out more and sign up for a Bring Your Family to University Day in 2025.
