UCL Stepping Up Your Study Skills is a 6-week online series for Year 11s designed to equip you with the tools you need to study more effectively, manage your wellbeing, and approach your GCSEs with confidence.
Each session includes interactive elements such as polls, quizzes and activities to help you apply the techniques you will be learning. You will also have the chance to connect with a UCL Student Ambassador who will be able to answer your questions and share their own tips and advice on effective study skills.

Sessions
To make the most out of UCL’s Stepping Up Your Study Skills program, we strongly encourage full attendance at all the online sessions. The full 6-week commitment ensures you gain a range of skills to confidently navigate the exam period.
- Session 1: Ready, Set, Succeed (Thursday 27 February 2025, 5–6pm)
In this introductory session, we will cover what you can expect over the next 6 weeks, set goals and hear first-hand insights from a current UCL student ambassador!
- Session 2: Be your best (Thursday 6 March 2025, 5–6pm)
In this session, we'll focus on strategies and techniques to help you manage your wellbeing throughout your studies.
- Session 3: Unlock your learning style (Thursday 13 March, 5–6pm)
Ever wondered how you learn best? This session will cover metacognitive strategies that will help your study sessions become more personalised and productive.
- Session 4: Master your revision (Thursday 20 March, 5–6pm)
In this session, we'll explore why revision matters and practice some effective revision techniques.
- Session 5: Conquer your exams (Thursday 27 March, 5–6pm)
Learn how to approach exams with confidence! This session will cover key exam techniques like time management and strategies for tackling different types of questions.
- Session 6: The final countdown (Thursday 3 April, 5–6pm)
In this final session, we will cover everything you need to approach exam day with calm and confidence, plus tips for what's next!
When will the series take place?
The series will begin on Thursday 27 February 2025 and will run for 6 weeks until Thursday 3 April 2025. All sessions will take place between 5pm and 6pm.

Are you eligible?
To be eligible to attend the series, you must be a Year 11 student and will be selected using the shortlisting criteria found on the Who we work with webpage to prioritise young people from the least represented groups. You will be awarded points based on the number of criteria that you meet. Applicants with the highest numbers of points will be offered the places available on the programme.
