Insights Day is for Year 12 students looking to experience new subjects areas through taster sessions led by UCL academics.
Are you in Year 12 and unsure what degree to study at university? Fancy trying out a new subject you’ve not done at school? If that sounds like you, then UCL’s Insight Day is the perfect chance for you to explore your options.
This in-person event takes place over a single day at the UCL campus. You will get the opportunity to sample three subject taster sessions led by some of UCL’s world-leading academics. Wherever your interests lie, whether in the humanities, sciences, or a combination of both, we have taster sessions to suit your interests.
The subjects you will get the opportunity to participate in are:
- Arts and Sciences
- English
- Sustainable Built Environments
- Social Sciences
- Biological Sciences
- Chemical Engineering
- Politics and International Relations
- Cancer Biomedicine
There will also be additional information sessions and a tour of the campus guided by current UCL undergraduates.

Insights Day is a full day event and will run 9:00 - 16:00.
Eligibility criteria
UCL Insights Day is open to students who are currently in Year 12 or equivalent and are studying at a state school or college in the UK.
Participants will be selected using the shortlisting criteria found on the Who we work with webpage to prioritise young people from the least represented groups. You will be awarded points based on the number of criteria that you meet. Applicants with the highest numbers of points will be offered the places on the programme.
