Policy and Strategy

Access team

The Access team runs events and programmes for young people in Years 12 and 13, they also work closely with UCL faculties and departments to support their widening participation activities.

Widening Participation team

The Widening Participation team run events and programmes which focus on attainment, advice and guidance for young people up to Year 11; advice and guidance work with young people from specific priority groups; and support for parents and carers. 

UCL East Schools Engagement team 

The UCL East Schools Engagement team connects the university community with schools in Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest, through free hands-on sessions at UCL and in schools. They introduce students to university subjects and expand their learning through creative-skills-based projects.

Contextual Admissions team

The Contextual Admissions team is responsible for changing UCL's intake of students from under-represented groups. They do this through developing and delivering UCL's contextual admissions programmes, and leading on widening participation admissions policy. 

Social Mobility and Student Success 

The Access and Widening Participation team works in close collaboration with the Communications team and the Data and Impact team which are both part of UCL's Social Mobility and Student Success area.

Communications team 

The Communications team works with the Access and Widening Participation team, Student Success team, Data and Impact team, and Student Funding team to ensure that all the teams' key messages are communicated to internal and external stakeholders. 

Data and Impact team

The Data and Impact team is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the impact of UCL's access and widening participation work across the life cycle. The team also coordinates and manages the annual Access and Participation budget.
