This event, supported by the Architecture Research Fund and the UCL Urban Lab, will consist of short position papers and chaired discussions exploring such topics as influence, impact and engagement; the possibilities offered by arms length funding; the need to engage with corporations; the ethics and governance of donations and sponsorship; and the relation between academia and activism/campaigning.

The aim is to explore the full range of positions on the subject of fossil fuel funding and research, and to better understand the different aims, motivations and issues at stake. To this end speakers and participants include researchers and practitioners, as well as senior academic managers, and members of DARO and UCL Corporate Partnerships at UCL.

In order to encourage as open a debate as possible the event will take place under Chatham House rules, and so it is not possible to advertise speakers in advance.

All students and staff at UCL are welcome.
