The UCL Urban Laboratory has been awarded a Collaborative Doctoral Award from the AHRC for the project, 'The Architecture and Urban Culture of Financial Crisis: Contemporary challenges facing urban design in London and Leeds', which will be run with the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE).
Collaborative Awards are intended to encourage and develop collaboration between Higher Education Institutions (HEI) departments and non-academic organisations and businesses.
Collaborative research studentships provide opportunities for doctoral students to gain first hand experience of work outside an academic environment. The support provided by both an academic and non-academic supervisor enhances the employment-related skills and training a research student gains during the course of their award.
