The UCL Urban Laboratory Stadtkolloquium will host its third annual urban PhD research workshop on the 26th and 27th of March 2012 in the UCL Department of Geography.
Stadktkolloquium is a UCL PhD postgraduate led initiative associated with UCL’s Urban Laboratory. It acts as an interdisciplinary academic forum, which encourages the dissemination and discussion of PhD level urban research in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, by providing open and informal outlets in which to air theoretical, practical and methodological questions and issues amongst peer PhD students across UCL and other universities.
This year’s workshop will involve 32 PhD researchers from across the world who are at various stages of completion and 7 established academics. It will focus on the themes of experiencing the urban, urban interventions, society, nature and cities, and transnational urbanism. Keynote presentations will be given by Professor Yvonne Rydin of the Bartlett School of Planning and Dr. Ben Campkin, Director of UCL Urban Laboratory. Individual breakout sessions will be lead by workshops led by Prof. Richard Dennis, Michael Edwards, Dr. Alan Latham, Dr. Chiara Ambrosio and Dr. Noam Lesham.
The workshop is a closed event but those not directly involved are encouraged to follow Stadtkolloquium on twitter and contribute to the event’s twitter feed (#uclstadt). Details of the workshop can be found on the Stadtkolloquium website (www.stadtkolloquium.co.uk), which will be re-launched in July 2012. Those interested are encouraged to contribute to future Stadtkolloquium activities including the monthly colloquia and next year’s annual workshop for which a call for papers will be released in November 2012.
Stadtkolloquium 2012 is grateful for the support of the RGS-IBG Urban Geography Research Group.
