Antonio Gomez has a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Granada (UGR) and an MSc in Mechanics of Structures again from UGR. He is pursuing his PhD with the Ultrasonics Group in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University College London (UCL) since 2014, under the supervision of Prof. Nader Saffari from UCL and Dr. Guillermo Rus from UGR.

Antonio worked in the Civil Construction sector within Spanish contractor companies such as Dragados and Trafisa between 2007 and 2011. In 2012, after his MSc he joined the Department of Mechanics of Structures and Hydraulic Engineering at UGR working in the Non-Destructive Evaluation Lab leaded by Dr. Rus, and focusing on modelling the propagation of shear waves generated by torsion over multi-layered media. In 2013 he started a PhD degree in Biomechanics at UGR under the supervision of Dr. Rus. In the same year he was awarded with a prestigious Talentia Scholarship by Junta de Andalucía to transfer his research career to UCL. His PhD topic at UCL focuses on a transurethral approach for applying shear horizontal waves to the diagnosis and ablation monitoring of prostate cancer. His current research interest also includes computer modelling, elastography in medicine, characterization of biomaterials and high intensity focused ultrasound.
