UCL-UCU: Annual General Meeting - request for nominations (closing date Wed 8 June at 17:30)

27 May 2022

Request for nominations to branch officer and committee posts, closing date Wednesday 8 June at 17:30.

This is a reminder for the Annual General Meeting of UCL UCU which will be held on Wednesday 29 June from 13:00-14:00 (facilitated using Zoom conferencing).

If you wish to stand for election for a branch officer or executive committee member position, please email the Returning Officer John Yandell (j.yandell@ucl.ac.uk).

Nominations will close on Wednesday 8 June at 17:30.

Please note the following:

  • You will need the support of a current member of the branch, who should be copied into your nomination email.
  • You are encouraged to supply a brief candidate statement of up to 250 words, which will be circulated to members.
  • Contested elections for branch officer posts will be by electronic ballot on a Single Transferable Vote (STV) basis.
  • The election for committee members will be carried out in the AGM itself.
  • It is possible to stand for more than one branch officer post, on the understanding that you can only be elected to one position. Votes are counted in the order listed in Rule 8.1 of our local branch rules, followed by ordinary committee members.
  • We do encourage job shares. Therefore, if you are standing for a branch officer post, please indicate if you would consider sharing the role with another.

We strive for a wide representation of our diverse members in the elected bodies of the Union. We especially welcome nominations of people from under-represented backgrounds. If you have never stood for a union position before and wish to ask questions about what a role might entail, you can email ucu@ucl.ac.uk.

The list of branch officer positions up for election is as follows (as per our Rule 8.1):

  • The president
  • The vice president
  • The treasurer
  • The secretary
  • The equality officer
  • The anti-casualisation officer
  • The communications officer
  • The health and safety officer
  • The environment officer
  • The postgraduate officer

If you wish to submit a motion for debate at the AGM, please email ucu@ucl.ac.uk.

An agenda and draft minutes from the 2021 AGM will follow shortly.
