Digital Epiphanies Participation
We are currently recruiting volunteers to participate in the following studies:
1. Univerisity Students and Social Networking
Participants are wanted for an investigation into the relationship between the use of Social Networking Sites (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, etc), procrastination and stress.
At the end of the study, all participants will be given:
i) feedback about what percentage of their time over the 4 weeks of the study was spent on social network sites;
ii) guidance about how to avoid procrastinating.
In addition, we have three £50 Amazon vouchers to give away to randomly selected participants.
The study will take place over a four week period during April and/or May, and will involve a minimal commitment of installing RescueTime (a piece of software that tracks which applications you use on your computer and smartphone) and completing two questionnaire surveys. Some participants will have the added commitment of being contacted daily by the experimenter (briefly!) for two weeks.
The pre-requisites for participation are:
i) university student (undergraduate/graduate);
ii) own a personal laptop and Android smartphone (owners of other phones e.g. iPhone or phones without wireless connections can still take part as long as you do not use your phone to access social network sites).
To take part please contact Timothy (firstname.lastname@example.org). The project is supervised by Dr Anna Cox, UCL Interaction Centre (email@example.com)
This research has been approved by the UCL Ethics Committee, project ID: BSc/1213/002. All data will be collected and stored in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
