The Institute of Finance and Technology has been founded on the belief that finance should be placed at the service of society’s most pressing challenges.
The world of finance is changing fast. New technologies mean businesses must meet the demands of consumers who want goods and services to be provided quickly, safely, cheaply and effortlessly.
The Institute of Finance and Technology will bring the best minds from academia, finance and policy together in a new research laboratory and executive education suite at UCL East.
Central to the UCL East vision of originality and innovation, our proximity to the City will enable us to bring the knowledge and experience of the world’s most powerful financial institutions to bear on the vexing problems we confront on a daily basis.

Programmes: Banking and Digital Finance MSc
We will offer postgraduate taught programmes, in areas such as banking and digital finance, as well as undertaking research activities.
The MSc in Banking and Digital Finance, started in September 2019, focuses on major practical and theoretical applications in banking and the most innovative aspects of digital banking. The programme emphasises the analytical foundation of finance and financial products, focusing on theory and methods and making extensive use of relevant practical applications.
We hope to provide leadership and training through collaboration with industry and government, and offer an entrepreneurship accelerator to equip future generations of financial innovators, managers and leaders with the skills necessary to meet these challenges.
Alongside teaching activity, we will develop and test new financial models which embed technical, environmental and social aspects within financial mechanisms.
Professionals of the present and future will be able to experiment, exchange ideas and develop the skills and mindset to succeed in a fast-paced world.
“Our mission is to inspire, explore and teach how finance can lift our actions to better the world.” – Professor Francesca Medda, Director of Institute of Finance and Technology
