Cirque du Handicap

Cirque du Handicap is a live cross-disciplinary performance celebrating the power within Disability. Original props and costumes from the performance are displayed in this exhibition. Through exaggerated circus acts, theatre, and spoken word poetry, Cirque du Handicap addresses societal ableism, body diversity, and Disability culture.

Simi Roach stars in this solo show, playing eight circus performers who each satirise an element of how Disability is viewed, and share a piece of Simi’s own story of struggle and acceptance. The performers include a ventriloquist who explores the separation they feel from their Disabled body with a puppet version of themselves and a spoken word drag piece by a clown about the role that Disabled people are forced to play for acceptance. This satirical show, performed live in January 2026, confronts audience perceptions of the Disabled experience.

God's Box of Broken Toys

The poem, God’s Box of Broken Toys, playfully explores how society views Disabled bodies and the preconceptions that are placed upon them because of their differences.
