This paid opportunity will give participants an in-depth insight into how creative collaborations can bring together artists, researchers and communities for mutual benefit, and hands-on experience in developing and delivering their own community engagement activities.

Over the five-month programme, the participants will receive tailored training, mentoring and support to develop, deliver and evaluate a programme of events for James Berrington’s Common Ground exhibition. The training will be delivered by members of Cultural and Community Engagement team, leaders in community engagement from across UCL, and guest speakers from cultural and community organisations in east London.

The programme is designed to support participants to develop specialist and transferable skills that will be valuable to them both within and beyond academia. This includes project management, working to a brief, collaboration and coproduction, evaluation methods, event planning and marketing. The opportunity suits students who are interested in embedding creative approaches to community engagement within their research, or who are interested in pursuing a non-academic career in cultural or community engagement or event production.

  • Fee: £595.55
  • Location: The training sessions will take place in person at UCL East Marshgate. The events produced will take place at UCL East Marshgate or in east London community settings.
  • Timing: mid Nov 2025 – mid April 2026.
  • Deadline for applications: 10am, Wednesday 5 November 2025.
