UCL East staff celebrated with multiple award nominations

Here at UCL East, we are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our staff and teams, some of whom have been shortlisted for this year’s UCL Education Awards and UCL Technical Professional of the Year Awards.

Among the nominees for the UCL Technical Professional of the Year Award is Dianna Nguyen, Head of Technical Services at UCL East, who has been recognised in the Leadership category. Tom Carson, one of our Teaching Lab Technicians has also been nominated in the Leadership catergory as a core member of the UCL TechsEDI Committee, highlighting the importance of equity, diversity and inclusion within the technical community.

Also nominated is Simon Magness, our UCL East Partnerships Manager, for his work in Enterprise and External Engagement. Simon Gosling in the Education catergory for his work as a Technician in the Bartlett Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis. And Mark Buckwell, Advanced Propulsion Lab Manager in the Research catergory.

In the UCL Education Awards, the Wet Labs team, Innovation Lab team, and the Precision Fabrication Workshop team have all been nominated in the Provost’s Award category for Improving the Student Experience, recognising their impact in creating a dynamic, hands-on learning environment for students. And Jo Baines from our Special Collections team has been nominated for the Eugenics Legacy Education Project Award.

The winners of the UCL Education Awards will be announced on 4 June, with the results of the UCL Technical Professional of the Year to be announced and celebrated on the first day of our Technical Staff Showcase (25-26 June 2025), held this year at UCL East.
