Cycling to UCL East? Here's everything you need to know

Travelling to UCL East by bike? We’ve got secure bike parking, showers, and lockers at Marshgate and One Pool Street to make your commute easy. Find out where to park, freshen up, and store your gear, plus important info on electric bikes and access tips.
If you’re planning to travel to UCL East by bike, we’ve got you covered with secure parking, showers, and changing facilities designed to make your commute as smooth as possible.
Bike Parking
- Marshgate: we have 231 secure bike racks in the basement, including spaces for trikes and cargo bikes.
You can access them via the west entrance using the dedicated bike lift or the staircase with bike rails. Your UCL ID card will already give you access, but if you have any issues speak to reception.
- One Pool Street: we have 301 external bike racks, secured behind access-controlled gates.
They can opened with your UCL ID card, like at Marshgate you should automatically have access! Most of these spaces are in the service yard (accessed through the east gate by Pool Street), with additional secure overspill storage to the south of the building.
Showers & Changing Rooms
- Marshgate: there are 20 shower cubicles and changing rooms in the basement. There is also an accessible shower on the 1st floor near the lift in core D.
- One Pool Street: there are 4 shower cubicles on the ground floor, designed with space to shower and change comfortably.
Lockers
Day-use lockers are available throughout the Marsghate and One Pool Street for temporary storage. Please clear them at the end of each day, they can be accessed using your UCL ID Card.
Important Note on Electric Bikes & Scooters
Fully electric bikes and scooters cannot be parked on UCL property due to battery safety concerns.
If you have any particular questions around this, please speak to security at reception.
Access Tips
- At Marshgate, use the dedicated revolving bike gates near the west entrance. Swipe your card, keep your bike close to the sensor, and wait for the bike gate to open before pushing the pedestrian gate.
