UCL BA Media degree show launches at UCL East
21 May 2024
Booking has opened for the first ever UCL BA Media Degree Show, We Know More Than We Can Tell, which will combine an exhibition at Marshgate and film screenings in our One Pool Street cinema. The Show previews on 5 June and then runs daily from 6-15 June.
The first graduating students of the BA Media programme at UCL present We Know More Than We Can Tell, a diverse showcase of documentaries, games, podcasts and short fictional films exploring the infinite possibilities of knowledge production in the digital age.
This showcase reflects on the idea of tacit knowledge - gained through experience but hard to express - and Michael Polanyi's influental work that much of our understanding of the world is beyond what we can articulate using only language. Come and experience how emerging media professionals explore and express complex, often unspoken dimensions of knowledge.
Students will offer fresh, personal perspectives on media and interrogate its role in creating and communicating both tacit and explicit forms of knowledge: how the media is made, how it’s experienced, its social function, its history and what its future might be.
This exhibition emerges from 3 years of practice-based research and innovation across disciplinary boundaries, including media histories, media and cultural studies, anthropology, digital art, games design and film making.
We Know More Than We Can Tell will feature 56 student degree projects in the Marshgate building and a screening programme at the One Pool Street Cinema, both buildings are on our UCL East Campus.
Join us between 5th-15th June for thought-provoking exhibits, screenings, and lively discussions on what we know, what we don’t, and what we can tell.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite for each exhibition day and screening, and the opening event.
