Sensitive and deeply observational, Queerkamp offers an intimate glimpse into the world of a queer youth summer camp, where young people spend a week among peers who share similar experiences and questions of identity. With tenderness and courage, the film captures moments of vulnerability, joy and self-discovery as the participants begin to embrace who they are, often for the first time.

Through its gentle, empathetic lens, Queerkamp reveals the quiet strength and resilience that emerge in this safe space, celebrating the transformative power of queer community.

Director, Lucas van der Rhee will be joining us for a Q&A following the screening.
This film has been selected by Spectra, Queer Non-Fiction Films at UCL East.

  • Queerkamp dir. Chris Westendorp & Lucas van der Rhee
  • Run time: 60 minutes
  • Please note this film has subtitles

Queerkamp will be preceded by the short film A film, My Body by one of our recent UCL East alumni Maar Dinu. This deeply personal film blends digital and analogue techniques, exploring the relationship between the human body and the film’s body, both undergoing processes of transformation to reach their final form. As the film develops, scratches, and reassembles itself, it mirrors the body’s own processes of change, healing, and self-definition.

Please note: A Film, My Body contains graphic imagery of body modification performance art.

If you prefer to skip the film please arrive for 7.30pm.
