UCL East is our largest single expansion since UCL was founded nearly 200 years ago. The first phase of our UCL East campus development is complete with our two main buildings now open - One Pool Street and Marshgate. Find out more about how the campus came to being.

Sep 2023 – Marshgate opened

2022 – One Pool Street opened

Jan 2020 - Construction started on One Pool Street

2019 – Construction started on Marshgate

2019 – Main contractor appointed for One Pool Street (previously referred to as Pool Street West)

2019 – Detailed planning (Reserved Matters) decision approved

Oct 2018 – Public consultation

Aug 2018 – Main contractor appointed for Marshgate

Jun 2018 – East Bank launched and £100m secured for UCL East

Mar 2018 – Outline planning approval received & public consultations

Nov 2017 – Revised budget and commercials approved by UCL Council

Oct 2017 – Public consultations

Sep 2016 – Professor Paola Lettieri appointed Academic Director

Aug 2016 – Stanton Williams and Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands appointed as Phase 1 design teams

Jul 2016 – Public exhibition & academic planning process for UCL East began
