The ENRICH Study, a neonatal brain injury research programme at UCLH, has received a generous £1.5 million donation to support ground breaking research into innovative therapies aimed at improving outcomes for infants affected by hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE).

The ENRICH Study, a neonatal brain injury research programme at UCLH, led by Professor Nikki Robertson, Professor of Perinatal Neuroscience at UCL and Honorary Consultant Neonatologist at UCLH, has received a generous £1.5 million donation from Bukhman Philanthropies.
This three-year funding commitment will enable ground-breaking research into innovative therapies aimed at improving outcomes for infants affected by hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), a leading global cause of brain injury in newborns caused by lack of oxygen and blood flow during or shortly after birth. In the UK alone, over 1,000 babies are affected by HIE each year.
Dr Pamela Tranter, Head of the Translational Research Group at the Translational Research Office, said: “We are proud to support research projects like this one with Professor Robertson. By working closely with our academics and researchers, and with the help of funding like this, we are advancing therapeutic innovation that delivers real benefits for patients.”
