UCL shares insights to advance translational success at Joint BRC & UKCRF Network Conference
16 July 2025
UCL’s Translational Research Office shared key insights at the Joint BRC & UKCRF Network Conference, highlighting the infrastructure, support, and culture that underpin UCL's translational research success.
UCL ranks second in the UK for research power and hosts over 1,800 biomedical research groups — a distinction that’s no coincidence, but the result of key strengths that set us apart.
On 14 and 15 July, Jane Kinghorn (Director) and Pamela Tranter (Head of the Translational Research Group) from the UCL Translational Research Office (TRO) attended the Joint BRC and UKCRF Network Conference in Birmingham. They led an interactive workshop with around 30 research colleagues from across the UK’s biomedical research ecosystem, sharing UCL’s experience and best practice in driving translational success.
Some of UCL's translational success factors at a glance:
- Extensive biomedical infrastructure
We partner with nine hospitals and three Biomedical Research Centres (BRCs), with joint academic-clinical appointments that accelerate translation. - Comprehensive translational support
The UCL Translational Research Office supports a wide range of therapeutic areas, helping secure funding and build partnerships that deliver clinical and commercial impact. - A leading product pipeline
We provide proof-of-concept funding for early to mid-stage research, de-risking projects and maximising their potential. - A diverse translational culture and talent pipeline
Through the UCL Therapeutic Innovation Networks, we support early career researchers with training, knowledge exchange and exposure — nurturing the next generation of translational leaders.
