Researchers gathered to upskill at the Medical Devices Workshop

8 February 2023

Members of the UCL research community gathered on 26 January 2023 to learn about Medical Device Regulatory Pathways at the UCL Medical Devices Workshop.

Medical Devices Regulatory Workshop on 26 January 2023

The event has received an overwhelming response from some 70 participants who are keen to learn about the medical device regulatory pathways and understand how to overcome the challenges of medical device research and translation.

Thanks to their active participation, the event sparked lots of meaningful discussions and exchanges of ideas around the subject. That includes the medical device regulatory landscape and the working definitions that can shape a researcher's experience of this journey, the support available both within and outside UCL to help you navigate this landscape, as well as the actions and responsibilities required from researchers to help themselves.

This is a joint event by the Translation Research Office (TRO), the Institute of Healthcare Engineering (IHE) Research & Infrastructure and Translation & Industry Delivery Groups and the Joint Research Office (JRO).

We are grateful for the support from all the speakers and contributors to the event, including:

  • Professor Geoff Parker, IHE Deputy Director (Translation) and Devices & Diagnostics TIN Chair
  • Dr Rita Hendricusdottir, RegMetrics
  • Mark Grumbridge – MHRA
  • Jennifer Harrison – HRA
  • Michael Kipping – Elements
  • Emma Glass/ Lena Cordie-Bancroft, Benyamin Rahmani, BSI
  • Racheal Rodell, UCL
