Meet the Slade PhD student working with clay excavated from the New Student Centre
6 April 2017
A PhD student at the Slade School of Fine Art has begun working with clay excavated from the New Student Centre site on Gordon Street.
Nayoung Jeong uses locally-sourced London clay to explore notions of home, territory and cultural displacement. Her preparations for using the clay include examining and testing the material, as its qualities and behaviour can vary depending on its source.
The work she produces will hopefully be displayed in the New Student Centre when it is completed in December 2018.
Be sure to look out for updates on her process on the Transforming UCL Twitter.
