26 June 2019

This week, we celebrated the amazing people who are contributing to the success of UCL at the 2019 Professional Services Awards.

This year the awards panel heard over 200 amazing stories about people who demonstrate integrity, outstanding service and commitment to UCL, about teams striving towards UCL’s future and about the incredible things people are doing beyond the boundaries of the institutes and departments of UCL.

Part of the 2019 Professional Services Conference, the Awards are a way for us to recognise this incredible work.

This year’s winners were:

  • Laura Tomson, Wing-Chau Tung and Orla O'Donnell - Ways of Working, Personal Excellence Award
  • The TEF Subject-level Pilot team - Ways of Working, Working Together Award
  • Nadine Mogford - Ways of Working, Outstanding Individual Contribution to Achieving Our Mission
  • The Welcome to UCL app team - Ways of Working, Outstanding Team Contribution to Achieving Our Mission
  • Samantha Baker - Community Spirit Award
  • Maks Ivkins, Madiha Sajid and Maria Coker - Outstanding Contribution to Staff Experience
  • Kevin Argent - Leadership Award for Outstanding Contribution

Two of this year's winners, Maks and Raj, told us how they felt about receiving their awards.

"I am really glad that my efforts have been noticed! We have lots of hard-working people at UCL in all sectors and it is very important that their efforts are recognised." Maks Ivkins.
"I feel that my work has been appreciated and recognised in front of my fellow professional services colleagues. It was great to feel valued and celebrated in such a way." Raj Sidhu, The TEF Subject-level Pilot team.

Ways of Working Awards

This year, four of the awards were designed around the newly launched UCL Ways of Working for Professional Services, a TOPS initiative aimed towards providing more fulfilling careers for professional services staff.

The Ways of Working are a framework, built for and by PS staff based across UCL , that supports colleagues to be successful and happy at UCL through sharing expectations around how we work.
