Faculty of Medical Sciences

Meet the current Faculty lead for Medical Sciences, view current and past projects and interventions.

Dr Thiru Surentheran is Associate Professor (Teaching) and Programme Director at UCL Cancer Institute.

He is an experienced academic in Biomedical Science with teaching capacity at various levels of Higher Education (undergraduate & postgraduate courses) as well as significant research interest in understanding host-pathogen interactions and viral carcinogenesis. His research interest also include exploring novel anti-cancer and anti-microbial agents.

He has been a Student Success Lead since September 2024.

Recruit student ambassador/s (Year 2) from different programmes. The ambassadors will help develop a survey about bariers to student success and work with student reps to send out to students in Medical Sciences.

Continue raising awareness with committees and ensure membership. Provide updates at the Faculty Medical Sciences monthly meetings, EDI committee and UG steering committee.

Ensure Chairs of the UG exam boards are engaging with awarding gap data. Analyse specific data relevant for the board.

  • Liaise with programme leads and Chairs of exam boards to remind them about engaging with 2022-23 data in the exam boards. Share analysis and recommendations at Faculty Education meeting for feedback from Heads of Education
