What is the APS?

This annual survey gathers feedback from students on various aspects of their programme, including teaching and learning, academic support, assessment and feedback, the overall structure of the programme, as well as free-text feedback on individual modules.

The APS plays a key role in helping staff at UCL to act on feedback. It enables us to identify issues affecting the student experience and take action where needed.

Is the feedback confidential?

APS feedback is entirely confidential, allowing students to share their views honestly and openly. In addition to quantitative results, departments and support services receive anonymised open-text comments from participating students, which help highlight best practices. These comments, together with numerical scores, contribute to Faculty and Department Education Plans, guiding improvements in teaching, learning, and the overall student experience.

How can you help

Use our resources to encourage your students to take part! Each academic department has at least one Student Survey Liaison Officer, who has received a comprehensive guide to promoting the survey locally.

You can find APS promotional materials as well as guidance: Annual Programme Survey (APS) Resources (UCL login required).

Weekly response rate updates will be shared at the faculty, department, and programme levels, allowing you to track progress.

You can encourage students to participate by:

  • Reminding students about the survey during lectures, seminars, or via Moodle
  • Promoting the APS through departmental social media channels
  • Highlighting the student prize draw

Student prize draw
