Approval of UCL’s Curriculum Design Principles and PEP2: Curriculum Review Process

We are delighted to share with you two key documents that have been prepared to support colleagues through the second phase of the Programme Excellence Project (PEP2: Curriculum Review). Education Committee approved these documents on 13 January 2025.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the development of the principles and design of the PEP2 process, and for supporting us in reaching this significant milestone in the project.
UCL’s Curriculum Design Principles
The Curriculum Design Principles provide a framework to help us deliver our Ambitions for Excellence in Education in a consistent way through our course curricula, facilitated by the PEP2: Curriculum Review process.
The principles have been developed collaboratively with UCL staff and students. An overview of this process, the consultation period which took place last term and the feedback received can be read in the following report: Curriculum Design Principles - Consultation & Feedback.

Introduction to the PEP2: Curriculum Review Process
A new introductory document provides an overview of the process and timeline for the Curriculum Review and what departments and faculties are being asked to do.
PEP2 provides an opportunity for course teams, working in partnership with students and department and faculty colleagues, to review and make changes to their courses for 2027 entry through a structured and centrally supported curriculum quality enhancement process.
