Neuroconnect@UCL is a student-led, staff-supported initiative designed to foster a vibrant, inclusive, and empowering community for neurodivergent students at University College London.
Neuroconnect@UCL is a student-led, staff-supported initiative designed to foster a vibrant, inclusive, and empowering community for neurodivergent students at University College London. The group will provide a safe and affirming space for students who identify as neurodivergent—including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Tourette’s syndrome, and other cognitive differences—to connect, share experiences, and engage in meaningful discussions and activities.
Through peer-led sessions, creative workshops, guest speaker events, and informal social gatherings, Neuroconnect@UCL aims to reduce isolation, promote self-advocacy, and celebrate neurodiversity. The initiative will be co-produced with neurodivergent students and supported by staff from the Student Success Team, ensuring that it remains student-driven while benefiting from institutional guidance and resources.
Our Vision and Goals:
Connection: Build peer relationships and reduce social isolation.
Empowerment: Promote self-advocacy and confidence through shared lived experiences.
Inclusion: Support institutional change toward more accessible and equitable practices.
Who is it for?
The group is for any undergraduate student that identifies as neurodivergent. There is no need to disclose or provide evidence of this.
What will the sessions be like?
The group will provide a safe and affirming space for students who identify as neurodivergent to connect, share experiences, and engage in meaningful discussions and activities.
There will be activities and then a discussion topic if you would like to join in the discussion. Communicate as much as or as little as you like in your preferred communication style.
Sensory tools will be provided and reasonable adjustments will be accommodated.
It is completely free to join.
The group will meet every month, alternating between online and in person meetings.
Neuroconnect sessions will be a neuro-inclusive, LGBTQ+ and gender affirming anti-racist space for students, therefore all who are neurodivergent are welcome regardless of their identity.
What are the benefits and opportunities?
- Connect and build community with fellow neurodivergent students from across the university.
- Join in as much or as little as works for you, this isn’t your typical programme! We’d love for you to attend at least 6 sessions over the year, as it would be impossible to build a community of peers without actively engaged students. However, we know that being neurodivergent can impact on your capacity to do other things and we know your studies, commitments, interests are also priorities, so come when it works for you.
- Access a programme shaped by you - built around the themes, interests, and needs of you and your fellow Neuroconnect@UCL members.
- Feel supported by approachable staff who are here to listen, guide, and encourage.
- Step into safe spaces where you can be yourself and talk openly about your identity, and lived experiences. (If you so wish)
