2 November, 10am-11am
We all want visiting speakers to have a great experience teaching at UCL, and our students to get the most from their expertise. This workshop is for module leaders and will help them understand what the law, and what UCL regulations, require them to do when they ask non-UCL people to teach on their modules. It will also highlight good practice in this field and there will be opportunity for participants to share their experience and insights in this area. Programme leaders may also find this workshop helpful.
This workshop will:
- Provide participants with an overview of legal and UCL regulatory requirements regarding inviting PGTAs and external speakers to teach on their modules
- Offer some guidance about best practice, to ensure the best experience for anyone contributing to a module, and ultimately the best experience for students
After attending this session you will:
- Understand what’s required from module (and, where relevant, programme) leaders when non-UCL staff are teaching on their modules
- Analyse their own practice and identify areas which fall short of legal or UCL’s regulatory requirements
- Implement good practice to ensure the best experience for colleagues and students
