The student voice - evaluating your teaching (f2f)

This session looks at ways to integrate the student voice into modules. It suggests that on-going evaluation in different ways can be a way to establish honest dialogue about the learning environment and students’ experiences of your module (or whatever format you are teaching). The focus is practical rather than theoretical, though theory will be signposted where relevant.

The session discusses key questions you should ask when evaluating, and a number of methods are introduced.

Finally, we will briefly problematise the reliability of evaluations, though this is not the focus of the session.

This one-hour introductory session will

• Outline key questions that should underpin evaluation;
• Encourage educators to think about the role of evaluation in their context(s);
• Provide practical examples of types of evaluation;
• Problematise the reliability of evaluations.

After attending this session you will 

• Be equipped to integrate evaluation more strategically in relation to your and your students’ needs;
• Be able to evaluate in different ways and at different times;
• Be able to outline key problems when it comes to how reliable evaluations are.
