Jayne Dennis from Queen Mary University, is delivering this session which is open to all UCL staff who teach.
Metacognition is the ability to think about your own thinking and is significantly correlated with academic performance. This workshop will:
- introduce the concept and explain how it is important to education
- present research which has explored this concept, and;
- consider implications of these findings in your teaching practice
After attending this session you will
- appreciate the importance of metacognition in education
- understand who knows about it, who does it and who teaches it
- reflect on how your teaching develops your students metacognition
- be inspired to make your teaching more engaging
